Lipi Gupta

Science Engagement Engineer, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

Lipi is a Science Engagement Engineer at the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC), with a background in particle accelerator physics. In this role, she consults with researchers on large-scale computing challenges, develops and delivers training programs, and leads community initiatives as manager of the NERSC User Group (NUG) and its executive board.

Lipi earned her PhD in Physics from the University of Chicago, studying non-linear electron beam dynamics and worked with physicists at SLAC National Accelerator Lab to apply machine learning methods such as convolutional and Bayesian neural networks for surrogate modeling and uncertainty quantification for the LCLS-II.

Beyond her technical work, Lipi is deeply committed to inclusive scientific communities. She was the Co-Chair of the 2025 Conference for Undergraduate Women and Gender Minorities in Physics (CU*IP) at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, holds a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion certificate from eCornell, and is pursuing certifications in Scientific Community Management through the Center for Scientific Collaboration and Community Engagement (CSCCE) and in Instructional Design through Oregon State University. Lipi volunteers as a raiser and trainer for Guide Dogs for the Blind in her spare time.
