Where are you from?
Arlington Heights Illinois
What are your academic and/or technical interests?
My academic and technical interests are in high-performance computing, computer architecture, hardware programming, and research infrastructure. I am especially interested in how large-scale scientific computing jobs are written and executed on HPC systems. For this program, I am particularly interested in the DUNE simulation project because it connects several areas I want to develop: GPU job execution, profiling, parameter scans, workflow reproducibility, and performance analysis in a real scientific computing environment. I do not come from a physics background, but I am very interested in learning how HPC is supporting this project.
Do you have any hobbies?
I enjoy VR gaming, playing squash, exploring new restaurants and speakeasies throughout Chicago.
What are you most excited about for this program?
I am most excited to be in a focused environment where I can learn directly from people working in the HPC community. I have spent the past several months reading about the program, watching videos from past bootcamps, and learning more about Argonne’s role in high-performance computing, so I am excited for the opportunity to experience that environment directly. I am also excited to meet other students and researchers who are interested in scientific computing, large-scale systems, and applied research infrastructure. Since Argonne is investing a full week into training participants, I see this as a valuable opportunity to gain direction, build practical skills, and better understand where I can contribute within the HPC community.
