Caira Anderson

Computational Science Graduate Fellow, Argonne National Laboratory

Caira Anderson is a Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellow and a PhD student in the Center for Applied Mathematics at Cornell University, where she works with Dr. David Bindel. Her research focuses on numerical methods and high-performance computing for problems related to magnetohydrodynamics and magnetic confinement fusion. She is especially interested in developing computational tools that make large-scale stability calculations for stellarator fusion devices more efficient and reliable. Caira earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Smith College and is currently completing her CSGF practicum at Argonne National Laboratory. Outside of research, she enjoys playing euphonium in concert bands, learning to salsa dance, and watching cat videos on the internet.
